Leo Arnaud

Leo Arnaud (1904-1991) was born in Lyon and studied classical composition under Maurice Ravel. However, his love of jazz led him to become a trombonist under the name of Leo Vauchant and eventually immigrate to America, where he worked for some decades arranging and composing music for Hollywood films. Though he received an Oscar nomination for his work on The Unsinkable Molly Brown, he is far better known for Bugler’s Dream, a selection that has been used as the theme for the Olympic Games since 1964.
