About Lena Andersson

Lena Marianne Andersson Hubbard (born April, 11 1955) is a Swedish singer from Fritsla and Halmstad.

When Andersson was at the age of twelve, she started to sing and wrote melodies to her friend. Later on, Lena sent in seven of her songs to a Swedish radioprogram in December of 1970. Then when Stig Anderson (who later became ABBA’s manager) heard her song, he immediately contacted her. The next year, in March, Lena’s debut album Lena, 15 was recorded within a week.

In the same year, Andersson became really popular in Sweden, standing out with her song “Är det konstigt att man längtar bort nån gång”. Lena also competed in Sweden’s Grand Pix, Melodifestivalen [Melody festival], two times, 1972 and 1977. She continued on releasing music and also worked with Swedish pop-group ABBA for some time in the late 70s. Her last single, before taking a break, came out in 1983, which wasn’t a huge success.

Lena became a Christian in the summer of 1985. In 2001, she got married to Tobe Hubbard, and has since then adapted the surname “Andersson-Hubbard”, or “Andersson Hubbard”. She also moved to the US along with her husband, and has lived there since 2001. In 2015, she made her comeback to the music industry with an English album, Open Your Heart. Since then, she has released some EP’s and singles with Christian themes and meanings on streaming devices.
