Primarily known for her leading role of Blair Waldorf in the TV show Gossip Girl, Leighton Marissa Meester is an American actress, singer-songwriter and model born in Fort Wayne, Texas.
Leighton focused mainly on acting until 2009, when she was featured in Cobra Starship’s single “Good Girls Go Bad” which became a massive hit in the USA peaking at number 7 in the Billboard Hot 100. Later that year she released her debut single of her then planned debut album “Somebody to Love” featuring Robin Thicke. Unfortunately, her debut album was shelved for unknown reasons.
In 2014, Meester announced she was finally going to release her debut album independently and with a brand new sound. She released Heartstrings later that year which was fully self-written and had an alternative pop-folk feel to it. The sound marked a departure from her previous singles.
After that, she went quiet on the music scene and has been pursuing her career as an actress in movies like By the Gun and TV shows like Making History.
