About Lauren Jauregui

Lauren Michelle Jauregui Morgado (born June 27, 1996), known simply as Lauren Jauregui, is an American singer-songwriter from Miami, Florida. She is a former member of the girl group Fifth Harmony.

Lauren is of Cuban descent from her parents, Michael Jauregui and Clara Morgado. She has also two siblings, Taylor and Chris Jauregui. Throughout her school years, Jauregui expressed herself through the arts, while she enjoyed constantly creating, singing, writing, dancing, choreographing, playing piano, and painting. She cites Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Amy Winehouse and Frank Ocean as her main influences.

In 2012, at the age of 15, Lauren auditioned for The X Factor performing the song “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys. She was given four “yes” and allowed to move on into the competition. Eventually, she, along with Ally Brooke, Camila Cabello, Dinah Jane, and Normani Kordei were put into a group, later named Fifth Harmony. The group released successful singles, with “Work From Home” peaking at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100, their highest peak on the chart. The band lasted almost six years before they announced an indefinite hiatus on March 19, 2018.

When asked about her solo career, post-Fifth Harmony, the Miami native said that she’s influenced by many genres including 90’s R&B, electronica, pop, rock ‘n roll, alt-rock, and Latin music; and that she aims to perspectives on social issues and encouraging her fans to do their own work. Furthermore, Lauren has said of her songwriting:

My art is just self-explorative. I’m gonna talk about whatever it is that I’m going through, so if what I went through, I went through with a girl, you’re gonna hear about it from that perspective. If what I went through, I did with a man, you’re gonna hear it from that perspective, ‘cause I just love souls.

Her solo collaborations while with Fifth Harmony include “Back to Me” with electronic duo Marian Hill, released in December 2016 (Lauren’s first feature outside Fifth Harmony as a co-writer and vocalist); “Strangers,” a track from Halsey’s sophomore album hopeless fountain kingdom, released in June 2017; “In Your Phone,” a track from Ty Dolla $ign’s album Beach House 3; and “All Night” with Steve Aoki, released in November 2017.
