Laura Dia is a singer, songwriter and producer. Self-taught and a self-starter, she began her exploration of music production in the summer of 2020.
Her music lies within the realms of contemporary R&B, Pop and soul but she also draws inspiration from indie rock, hip hop and her heritage, West Africa. Artists such as Beyoncé and Florence + The Machine are examples of her early influences in music.
Hailing from Bristol – UK, the Nigerian-Irish singer had grown a love for music from a young age. From singing during her mother’s choir practices to doing solo performances at university and in her hometown. She has developed a uniquely polarised voice; delicate and sweet but also powerful and soulful, timbres she can switch between effortlessly. She also stands out as a multi-instrumentalist, performing with both piano and guitar.
She began her debut with her single “What Now” the title of her 4-part “single series" on longing, love and loss, released in 2021. Songs that introduce her potential as an artist and show her ability in lyricism, various singing styles, and characteristic harmonies. Aspects of her work have been compared to Solange, Mereba and Ama Lou.
Since, she has featured on BBC Radio 1’s “Future Soul”, BBC Radio Southampton and Platform B Radio and BBC Radio Bristol amongst others. You can now enjoy her recent single “Fear + Avoidance”.
