About Lars Frederiksen And The Bastards

Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards was an American street punk band formed in 2000 in Campbell, California to release the songs that their frontman, Lars Frederiksen had written in his spare time while on tour with Rancid. The themes of their songs include drinking, fighting, drugs, sex, prostitutes, gangs and street life.

The band members were Lars Frederiksen, Gordy Carbone (AKA Unknown Bastard), Jason Woods (AKA Big Jay Bastard), Craig Leg, and Scott Abels (AKA Skatty Punk Rock). While Craig Leg did not appear on the first album, he has always been a touring member of the band. The meaning behind any of the members' alternative names aren’t widely known.

The band formed in 2000 in Campbell, California, and broke up five years later in 2005 after releasing two albums. This was the first of many side-projects to emerge from Rancid, but it was not the last one to come from Frederiksen: five years after The Bastards broke up, Lars started The Old Firm Casuals with fellow punk veterans, Casey Watson and Paul Rivals from punk band, Never Healed. Their new project was supposed to be something that The Bastards never could be: an Oi! band.
