About Kimosabe

Siviwe Camagu Nkanyuza (born August 31, 1993), professionally known as Kimosabe
is an award-nominated South African singer-songwriter, audio engineer, and music executive.
He is also the founder of the independent record label Kimosabe Productions.

Born and raised in the Eastern Cape, Siviwe first discovered his passion for music at the age of 13 , when he was introduced to the music production software FL Studio by his best friend.
After teaching himself how to use the program to make beats and record, he began experimenting with music and would subsequently release numerous underground mixtapes whilst in high school, which he would sell to his schoolmates.

After completing Grade 12, Siviwe (now going as ‘Sixfo’) would move to Johannesburg to further his studies and pursue a career in music, in the city.

Shortly after arriving in Johannesburg, he started making beats and producing records for established and up-and-coming artists and DJs in the city, building a name for himself as a versatile producer, all while continuing to release music as Sixfo.

After 2 years of attendance , he dropped out of college in order to fully focus on his music career.
It was at this point that Sixfo became Kimosabe; a bonafide R&B singer-songwriter and producer.
Following the name change, he would continue producing records for even more established artists such as Cassper Nyovest, DJ Dimplez, Lloyd Cele, DJ Clock, and several others.

In 2016, Kimosabe formed the dance music duo PromKnights with local DJ Voodoo and the pair would go on to release two singles which enjoyed considerable radio airplay.
PromKnights would later join forces with DJ Clock on the smash hit single ‘Wolves’ which became a radio hit and was nominated at the South African Music Awards for Best Song.

That same year, Kimosabe had worked with another dance music DJ Royal K on his single ‘Vices’ which would go on to top the 5fm Top 40 Chart. The song also
earned Kimosabe and Royal K a Song of the Year nomination at the South African Dance Music Awards.

By the end of that year, Kimosabe had become one of the most ubiquitous voices on radio.

In 2017, PromKnights disbanded and Kimosabe signed with local independent record label David Gresham Records, albeit for less than a year.
Kimosabe would also release the first installment of his critically-acclaimed ‘Nights’ trilogy through his newly founded label; Kimosabe Productions.

Shortly after forming his label, Kimosabe would go on to recruit R&B singer ThatoFeels as his first labelmate.
