Born in Seoul, South Korea, on August 1st, 2000, Kim Chae-Won (김채원) is a South Korean singer-songwriter under Source Music. She is a member of the South Korean girl-group LE SSERAFIM and a former member of the project group, IZ*ONE.

Chaewon first participated on PRODUCE 48 versus 95 other trainees from Japan to Korea in order to debut in IZ*ONE. She garnished over 238,192 votes from the “national producers,” and ranked #10 out of #12, leading her to her debut.

She joined Woollim Entertainment in 2017, where she only trained for ten months before she was a contestant. On an Weverse magazine, Chaewon stated the following about her status with Woollim, after the disbandment of IZ*ONE:

That’s when Source Music told me they were making a new group and made me an offer, and the people at my previous label supported me and respected my decision, and that’s how I ended up making a fresh start somewhere new.

Then, on May 2nd, 2022, Chaewon made her official debut as a member of LE SSERAFIM after changing labels.
