Robert L. Johnson Jr. (born August 28, 1976), better known by his stage name Kilo-G, was an American rapper, raised by his mother in Algiers, New Orleans.
The first signee of newly formed Cash Money Records, Johnson recorded his debut album, ‘Sleepwalker’ (1992), when he was just fifteen years old. This album drew little attention and sold only a few-thousand copies.
His second, and final album, ‘The Bloody City’ (1995) was produced by Mannie Fresh and featured guest appearances by like-minded rappers such as UGK’s Bun B and Pimp C as well as new Cash Money artists like Lil’ Slim, M$. Tee, Tec-9. The album was a massive improvement, owing both to Mannie Fresh’s expert production and Kilo-G’s vastly improved songwriting and performance.
However, on the 15th of January, 1997, Kilo-G was shot to death in his home. He was twenty years old and left behind his girlfriend, Lakeisha and his son, Robert Johnson III.
