Killing Joke is an English rock band formed in October 1978 in Notting Hill, London. The original line-up included Jaz Coleman (vocals, keyboards), Paul Ferguson (drums), Geordie Walker (guitar) and Youth (bass), with Coleman and Walker being the only constant members through numerous lineup changes.
Despite only modest commercial success, Killing Joke have been a monumental influence on specific genres, such as industrial rock, and on numerous bands who have name-checked them as influences, including but not limited to Metallica, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, and the Foo Fighters.
The band has released fifteen studio albums between 1980 and 2015, with 1985’s Night Time being the height of their mainstream exposure.
