Arturo Enrique “Kike” Pinto is a Peruvian composer, musician, singer, and teacher. He has released at least three albums: Taklla (1979), Wifala (1992), and Haylli (2009). He sings in Spanish and Quechua.
Pinto teaches Andean music at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. He is also the founder and director of the TAKI Institute, a cultural center and museum of Andean and Amazonian musical instruments in Cusco, Peru.
TAKI houses a collection of more than 400 instruments, the oldest of which are pre-Inca. Kike occasionally performs at the museum; in 2017, he released an EP of one such performance, in which he demonstrates several traditional instruments. The word taki means “song” in various Quechua languages.
