Edouard Ory was a Jazz trombonist and composer. He grew up in LaPlace, Louisiana where he made a name for himself leading one of the most well-known bands in the region. After moving to New Orleans in his early twenties, Ory quickly gained experience; he worked with influential jazz musicians such as Louis and Lil Armstrong, King Oliver, and Johnny Dodds. Much of Ory’s work is from his time spent in Chicago in the twenties, and in Los Angeles from the late forties to early fifties. Ory is now one of the most influential Jazz and Creole Trombonists of all time.
