Born Christopher Tyson in North Carolina, Khrysis began his career in 2003 as one of the main in-house producers, along with 9th Wonder, in the Justus League which housed the legendary group, Little Brother.

Khrysis' production consists of diverse drums over a gritty and harmonic soundscape. Aside from his work with the Jamla collective and The Away Team, a group he formed with rapper Sean Boog, he has also produced for Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, Talib Kweli, Problem, Bad Lucc, Sean Price, Masta Ace, Smif-n-Wessun, Buckshot, KRS-One, Evidence, and Jean Grae to name a few.
