Country music singer, actor, author and motivational speaker Kevin Grant Sharp was born December 10, 1970 in Redding, California to Glen and Elaine Sharp. One of eight children, Kevin was surrounded by siblings Mary, Lisa, Ron, Gregg, Richard, Larry and Genni. As a teenager, Kevin survived Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. He went into remission in the early 90’s. Due to the radiation treatments he endured, he permanently lost all of his hair. Despite defeating the cancer, Kevin faced other health worries. On December 26, 1996 he had surgery on his hip. Then on September 14, 1997 he broke his hip jumping off an 8 foot stage in the middle of a concert. June 15, 1998 he injured his left hip during his performance at the TNN/Music City News Awards and ended up in the hospital for surgery. November 26, 2008 he underwent a partial gastrectomy and June 12, 2010 at a hotel room in Riverton, Wyoming, he broke his leg. 2011 wasn’t any better for Kevin. On January 26, he had hip replacement surgery and received an artificial knee and steel femur. This was done in an effort to avoid amputating his severely infected leg.

Kevin was married on April 10, 1998 to Traci Elizabeth Williams. Her sister Melinda married country singer Neal McCoy. Kevin and Traci later divorced at some point prior to his death at 10:49 p.m. on April 19, 2014. He passed at his mother’s home in Fair Oaks, California from complications arising from past stomach surgeries and digestive issues.

Kevin is remembered for songs such as “Nobody Knows”, “She’s Sure Taking It Well”, and “If You Love Somebody”. He is also known for his acting abilities on Traveller, Simon Boccanegra, and Macon Lescaut.
