Keats were solely a studio band, initially put together by musicians of The Alan Parsons Project. The driving force behind putting it together was Alan Parsons' cooperator Eric Woolfson who intended to create a career for the core of the band and give them the opportunity to control their own musical output: Ian Bairnson (guitars), David Paton (vocals, bass) (both initially of Pilot) and Stuart Elliot (drums, formerly of Cockney Rebel). Singer Colin Blunstone (formerly of The Zombies and also a solo artist) and keyboarder Pete Bardens (formerly of Them and Camel and a solo artist as well) were added due to their track records for songwriting.
