Kay Jeezy, a young artist from London equipped to take on the Drill genre. He’s only 18 but still has some amazing tracks released under his brand’s portfolio. Kay takes up all the work of his music production by himself and has the right to be called a one-man-band. Having to work his way to where he stands now, Kay didn’t have a golden childhood but he did what needed to be done to help his family.
Kay Jeezy has always been into the game of making music, but it wasn’t until 2021 that he decided to kick it up a notch and pursue this career path. Using his high school nickname as his stage name, he brought himself into the spotlight. Always finding himself looking after his younger siblings, Kay learned to grow up before others in his age group. This hardened him into the hard-working man he is today. He faced obstacle after obstacle and incidentally got into trouble as well. He felt his life spiral leading him into a dark place of his life where he saw nothing but problems and depression. But the need to provide for his little siblings drove him to fight harder, and he promised that he would get them a better life than he got. So he took the responsibility to be the hope for anyone who felt that way, and that is what led him here.
Always having music as a buddy in his life, he only recognized it in his high school years. Motivated by his favorite artists such as Kanye West, Kay realized his skill for making beats and music on his phone and let that talent bloom by eventually shifting to a laptop to do his stuff professionally, working with other big-name artists such as s0Kenny, StaySolidRocky, and OgwaaFrenchboy. He describes his music as something that is relatable to anyone going through hard times as he did. The relatability can almost seem therapeutic for his audience. The songs are about pulling through, and so there is a scene of motivation and an almost depressive aspect in that regard. Using the heartbreaks and lessons he learned in life as contributors to his work, and his music can be defined as a therapy session or a shoulder of support for those feeling down.
The independent artist works hard to create his music. Creating a number of different beats and freestyling over them to see what fits over what perfectly. He perfects the flow he likes and then adds the main ingredients; his lyrics. Mostly an outlet of how he feels at the moment or a callback to a prior experience in his life. Taking anywhere from an hour to even a week to perfect his song. Kay tops it up by recording mastering the vocals by himself to end up with a completed track.
Kay Jeezy wants to bring music that his audience can relate to and help them through pain and show them that they can overcome it. Eventually building himself enough to be able to scout for talent, so kids like him have a better chance at life than he did. So stay connected for more updates on his journey, more music, and more love.
