Karl-Gerhard Lundkvist was born on May 17, 1934 in Tillberga, a part of Västerås municipality, Sweden. After school, he worked as ordinary seaman at sea and played guitar and accordion on spare hours. He made his debut as artist at the nightclub Trocadero in Amsterdam in 1952. He went back to Sweden, did his military service, moved to Stockholm, participated in a couple of amateur contests as rock singer and was successful with that in the mid fifties. On New Year’s Eve in 1957, Little Gerhard performed for the first time with his own band at Nalen in Stockholm.
