Born on April 11, 2000, Yu Ji-Min (Hangul: 유지민), better known by the mononym Karina (Hangul: 카리나), is a South-Korean singer, rapper, and, dancer under SM Entertainment.
Karina was first officially introduced to the public on October 27, 2020 as a member of the South-Korean girl group aespa. She made her debut on November 17, 2020, as an official member of the group with their song “Black Mamba”.
Before her official debut as an artist under SM, Karina was known as back-up dancer for TAEMIN’s stage performance of “WANT”. She was also featured in a dance performance with EXO member, KAI, in a collaboration for the virtual showcase between Hyundai Motor Company and SM.
Karina is also a member of GOT the Beat, which is a South Korean female supergroup formed by SM Entertainment. It’s the first sub-unit of project group Girls On Top, and consists of seven members, including Karina and fellow aespa member Winter. The group made their debut on January 3, 2022, with the song “Step Back”.
In 2021, she was announced to be a member of SM Entertainment’s rotational Unit GOT the beat, as well as Wendy from Red Velvet and soloist BoA. As well in 2021, she hosted the Mnet Asian Music Awards and did a dance cover as well.
