Julian Casablancas is an American musician, singer, songwriter and frontman of The Strokes, as well The Voidz.

He was enrolled against his will at Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland at the age of 13, where he met future Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. Le Rosey holds the world record for highest boarding school tuition, and the mannerisms of its affluent students has been said by Casablancas to be the biggest “culture shock” of his life, and likely inspired much of the societal commentary in the Strokes' first LP, Is This It.

Casablancas pursued a solo career during The Strokes' hiatus, releasing the album Phrazes for the Young on November 3, 2009.
