Gary Maurice Lucas Jr. (born August 17, 1988), more commonly known as Joyner Lucas, is an American rapper and songwriter from Worcester, Massachusetts.
At a young age, he started rhyming under the name G-Storm but later changed his name to Future Joyner in 2007. Around the same time, he started recording with his uncle, a producer named Cyrus Tha Great.
On May 13, 2011, Joyner released his debut mixtape titled Listen To Me. On October 3, 2013, he released his sophomore mixtape titled LFO’s (Low Frequency Oscillators) and it would be his first release under the name of Joyner Lucas.
On April 1, 2015, Joyner released his third mixtape titled Along Came Joyner which featured the popular “Ross Capicchioni.” Joyner also gained a lot of attention in 2016 for his “Panda” remix. Later that year, he signed to Atlantic Records and released his mixtape, 508-507-2209 on June 16, 2017.
On April 19, 2017, Joyner released his hit single “I’m Not Racist,” which shot him into mainstream success and would later become RIAA gold-certified.
In 2018, Joyner teased his debut studio album titled ADHD, and after releasing several singles, such as “Isis,” “10 Bands,” and the title track he finally dropped album on March 27, 2020.
On October 23, 2020 Joyner released his first EP, EVOLUTION, preceded by two singles, “Fall Slowly” and “Snitch”.
