John Schmersal is a musician and composer, best known for being one of the founding members of the indie rock band Enon, and former guitarist of the short-lived 90’s noise rock band Brainiac. He released an album under the name John Stewart Mill in 1999 following the death of former Brainiac bandmate Tim Taylor. He also founded the bands Crooks on Tape and Vertical Scratchers and is a touring member of Caribou. He has produced albums for bands such as Hole, Thunderbird are Now!, and the Mean Reds.
