John Paul Jones (born January 3, 1946) is best known as the bassist for British hard rock supergroup Led Zeppelin. Before his work with Zeppelin he worked as a session musician.
Since Led Zeppelin broke up in 1980, following the death of John Bonham, Jones has collaborated with many artists, including R.E.M., Heart, Peter Gabriel, Foo Fighters, Brian Eno, and many more.
He also joined Dave Grohl and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme to form Them Crooked Vultures. They released their first album on November 17, 2009.
