About John Moreland

John Moreland is an American singer-songwriter from Tulsa, Oklahoma. John was born in Longview, Texas. When John was 10 years old, he moved to Tulsa, where he started writing.

When he was in high school, John was the frontman of local punk and hardcore bands. At one moment, this music just didn’t do anything for him anymore. At that point, Moreland started to listen to artists his dad liked, such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, Tom Petty and Neil Young. This switch started when he heared Steve Earle’s song ‘Rich Man’s War’. John describes his early feelings about the song as “totally feeling like somebody just punched me in the chest”.

John is often praised for generating strong feelings like he once had with the Steve Earle song, in his own songs.

So far, Moreland released three major studio albums:

“Earthbound Blues” (2011)

“In the Throes” (2013)

“High on Tulsa Heat” (2015)

In 2017, John will release his fourth studio album Big Bad Luv, a much more cheerful album.
