Jóhann Jóhannsson (1969-2018) was an Icelandic composer who wrote largely for theater, dance, film, and television. He was known for combining orchestral, electronic, and ambient sounds to an influential extent. His scores for Arrival, Sicario, and The Theory of Everything were nominated for Oscars, Grammys, and Golden Globes. He died as a result of an accidental drug overdose.
