Joe Talbot, born in 1985, is the frontman of the Bristol punk band IDLES. Talbot formed IDLES in 2012 along with bassist and college friend Adam Devonshire.
Talbot’s debut release with IDLES was the Welcome EP in 2014. In 2015 their second EP Meat was released. In February 2017 the band released their first full-length album Brutalism and in September 2018 released their second album Joy as an Act of Resistance.
Talbot has incorporated many real-life struggles in his songwriting. Most notably references to his mother, Christine, who he had been a caretaker for from age sixteen up to her death, topics of the nature of masculinity, and the stillbirth of his daughter Agatha.
