About Jo Lee

Jo Lee (pronouns: they/them/theirs) is an independent artist, songwriter, and producer. Born and raised in Brooklyn, they would say that life was the best voice teacher. Non-binary and queer, Jo is proud to use their voice to entertain and empower their community.

Of Puerto Rican, Japanese and African-American descent, Jo Lee’s urban contemporary sound is as intersectional as they are. As a vocalist, Jo’s voice gets described as bright, luxurious, and soulful. Growing up singing in a church with a Grammy-winning gospel choir influences their approach to vocal production.

Jo Lee is an active member of New York City Gay Men’s Chorus and it’s queer acapella group, TONEWALL. In four seasons, Jo performed seven solos. They represented the chorus on three television gigs (including The Tonight Show and ESPN); at Carnegie Hall, with the New York Philharmonic; and Denver PAC. In its first three years, TONEWALL placed second at the regionals level of the international Aca-Open. The group performed at Yankee Stadium, Red Bulls Stadium, the 2016 Pride Rally, and the Diamond Horseshoe (now Sony Hall).
