James Murphy is best known as the main creative force behind LCD Soundsystem. Between 2005 and 2010, they released three critically acclaimed albums: LCD Soundsystem, Sound of Silver, and This Is Happening. He is a singer, songwriter, producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist.

Prior to forming LCD Soundsystem, Murphy was in a lot of unsuccessful bands. Outside of the band, he has worked with artists including Arcade Fire, David Bowie, and Gorillaz.
