James McMurtry (18 March 1962) is an American rock and folk rock singer-songwriter and guitarist. He’s released nine studio albums and continues to record and tour today.
His father is novelist Larry McMurtry and his mother is an English professor, which may point to an answer about the wonderful story songs McMurtry writes. “Talkin' At the Texaco,” “Levelland,” and “Outskirts” are all great examples of his story-telling talent.
