James Iha is an American singer and guitarist best known as being one of the original members of Smashing Pumpkins. Iha was a member of the band from the very beginnings in 1988, when he and Billy Corgan recorded the first Pumpkins demo until 22 years later in 2000, when the Smashing Pumpkins officially broke up. Despite the “official” break-up, Corgan began recording and performing as Smashing Pumpkins with a revolving cast of bandmates a few years later.
Iha stayed away from the Pumpkins for 16 years until the March of 2016 when he rejoined the band onstage, to everyone’s surprise.
