James Horner (1953-2015) was a much-feted composer of film soundtracks whose score for Titanic (for which he won the two Oscars in his career) remains the best-selling orchestral film soundtrack in history. He was nominated for eight other Oscars and frequently collaborated with James Cameron and Ron Howard. He died when his single-engine plane crashed.
