An artist who dabbled in psychedelia and wyrd folk, Holmes was belatedly recognized for two albums on the Tower label: 1967’s “The Above Ground Sound of Jake Holmes” and the following year’s “A Letter to Katherine December.” He recorded into the ‘70s with diminishing returns artistically.
Holmes went on to far greater success as a jingle writer, penning commercials for the US Army and Sure deodorant amongst others.
