Jacob Banks was born in Nigeria, but moved to Birmingham, England when he was 13-years-old. His music alternates between Soul, R&B and hip-hop, though he sometimes blends all three.
Banks has already accomplished several milestones in his career, such as becoming the first unsigned act to ever appear on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, winning the 2012 MOBO UnSung regional competition in Birmingham, and winning the Adidas “Are You In” music competition.
Jacob released his debut EP, The Monologue, in 2012, which was received with feverish acclaim. The buzz earned Banks slots as supporting artist on U.K tours for Sam Smith, Emeli Sande, and Alicia Keys.
In September 2016, Jacob Banks signed to Interscope Records. He has released EPs The Paradox and The Boy Who Cried Freedom. His debut album Village was released in late 2018. He appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote his album. He performed “Chainsmoking” and “Slow Up.”
