Born in Lansing, Michigan, J Royal moved to the city of Atlanta as a baby, and spend most of his youth moving around to various parts of the city and surrounding areas with his mom and sister. Although he had been making beats since elementary school, Royal first started seriously rapping in high school where he quickly gained recognition for his ability to send the listener to another world with smooth melodic hooks one-on-one song while promptly jerking them back into reality with hard-hitting punchlines on the next. He also showcases his versatility and his lyrics switching from the sad subject matter of broken hearts and false promises to flexing his lavish lifestyle in the blink of an eye. It seems J-Royal has a song for just about every occasion and he continues to improve on every release.
