Israel Houghton (born May 19, 1971, in Oceanside, California) is an American Christian music singer, songwriter, producer and worship leader. Houghton is usually credited as Israel & New Breed.

A longstanding, diverse and highly regarded artist in the gospel/contemporary Christian music industry, Houghton began being in ministry in 1989, and in 1995 – along with his ex-wife Maleasa, formed New Breed Ministries with world class musicians and singers.

Since then, he has released 11 solo and group albums, and as of September 2018, he is the winner of five Grammy Awards, 13 Dove Awards, two Stellar Awards, a Soul Train Music Award, and many more.

He is currently married to former recording artist and TV personality Adrienne Balion.
