Texas-born but East Atlanta bred, Ishtrumentals aka Ishtro started making music at 12, inspired by artists such as Lil Wayne, Future, Kanye West, and the sonic street sounds of 808 Mafia and Metro Boomin. Now, 27, with an immense work ethic, he’s earning a reputation for his savvy wordplay and versatile production skills.
While creating for others, Ishtrumentals has dropped a string of self-produced projects and freestyle mixtapes (Singing Thug Songs, That’s My Ish Vol. 1, Lambo) with soulful, bass-heavy tracks and trap-tinted rap ballads. His latest album, Ishtro, is self-described trap pop, a blend of street swag rhymes over rugged beats and smooth melodies.
On the production side, he’s worked with an array of Atlanta-based artists including Quentin Miller, Cj Francis IV, and ManMan Savage. After collaborating on projects with producers Jay Cornell (Young Scooter, Louie V Gutta) and Westkillinit (Kalan.FrFr, YBN Nahmir), he was tapped by West Coast hip hop legend Too $hort to produce various tracks on his recent albums, The Sex Tape and The Pimp Tape.
With his recent drop, Ishtrumentals is proving to be an emerging talent and voice in hip hop
