About Infectious Grooves

Mike Muir has a wacky sense of humor. It gives Suicidal Tendencies its style. But still, it’s a serious(ish) punk(ish) act, so there are limits.

And that’s not fair. Mike needs to express himself. The solution: Set up a secondary band, not in a “they left their bands and formed Audioslave” or “they got kicked out of their bands and formed Velvet Revolver” sort of way, like some bands who will remain nameless…

No, this was more of a “when we have a hankerin' for some hijinks, we’ll slip down to the other studio and record some especially goofy tracks, then come back to our band, ‘homey, I’m home’, and resume our responsible lives as serious rock stars” sort of situation.

And so Mike got Adam Siegel of Excel, Stephen Perkins of Jane’s Addiction, and his own bandmate Robert Trujillo, and formed a very silly funk-metal supergroup called Infectious Grooves. They’re a side project that has released four albums over the past 25 years or so.
