Iman Asante Shumpert is an American professional basketball player from Oak Park, Illinois. After playing two years at Georgia Tech, he was selected with the 17th overall pick in 2011 NBA draft by the New York Knicks. Shumpert stands 6 ft 5 inches, capable of playing the shooting guard and small forward positions.
In 2012, Shump was selected to the All-Rookie First Team. After spending four seasons with the Knicks, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers where he also played four seasons. During the 2015-16 NBA season, Shumpert and the Cavs won the franchise’s first championship. Since then, he has played for the Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets and Brooklyn Nets.
When he’s not on the court, Iman is a loving husband to Harlem musician Teyana Taylor and father to their daughter, Iman Tayla “Junie” Shumpert Jr.
His discography consists of one mixtape, Shumpman: The MD (2016), and two extended plays, Substance Abuse (2018) & Piece De La Foutu Pie (2019). He was also featured in the 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher.
