Imaani rose to prominence in 1998, when she was the UK’s entry for Eurovision. Her song, “Where Are You,” placed second in the contest (it lost to Israel’s “Diva”). Her song went into the top 20 throughout Europe, although she was dropped from her label before she had a chance to release a second single.

In 2014, she released her debut album, Standing Tall. The album drew critical praise, although it didn’t achieve much commercial success.
