Jason Yarger (lead vocalist and guitarist), Jake Goldstein, Kevin Grimmett (bassist), and Joey Anderson (drummer) make up the California-based band known as HUNNY. Citing bands like The Cure as post-punk influence, Yarger centers HUNNY’s genre as “sadwave,” their lyrics revolving around the group’s life growing up and experiences with girls. Jake Munk (guitarist) & Greg Horne (bassist) were previous members of the band.
Goldstein and Munk had been creating music since their middle school years, and Yarger and Horne had formed a group in high school. As the members grew up together in Newbury Park, they played music with different bands. Eventually, several of them started living in a house in the valley and decided to evolve their group and become HUNNY.
“Cry for Me” was their debut single, which is the embodiment of their upbeat personality, complete with a beat that you can’t get out of your head.
The band accompanied long-time friends The Neighbourhood and Bad Suns on a tour across the United States entitled #THEFLOOD2015 in anticipation of The Neighbourhood’s sophomore effort during the fall of 2015.
Pain/Ache/Loving was released on October 9th, 2015 as HUNNY’s debut extended play, featuring a brand new single entitled “Natalie.”
