About Hooverphonic

Hooverphonic is a Belgian band formed in 1995. Alex Callier (bassist), Raymond Geerts (guitarist), Frank Duchêne (keyboard) and Esther Lybeert (singer) originally named it Hoover, but had to change the name due to conflicts with other groups and a vacuum cleaner brand. It is considered a trip hop group, even though this denomination is reductive considering the musical diversity of their records.
Esther Lybeert left the group early and was replaced by Liesje Sadonius.
In November 2020, the band joined back with arguably their most popular leading lady, Geike Arnaert, who originally joined the band from 1997-2008. The trio is known as “The Magnificent Three.”
Since then, they participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021, representing Belgium with the song “The Wrong Place.”
