Formerly known as Sketchy Hons, Matthew Honson is one of the three Funkoars MCs. He was born and raised in Adelaide, South Australia, and that’s where he resides to this day.
In the early days of Funkoars, Hons was a minor part of the group. Sometimes, Trials and Sesta, the other two MCs of the group, would write tracks together and Hons wouldn’t have a verse in it. Some examples are “Leg It”, “Blackout” and “Never Coming Back”.
In “Still Drunk”, a track from the debut Funkoars album, “Who’s Your Step Daddy”, a voice-over says “And what if Hons was one of us?” before his verse, declaring that it was a minor occasion to have him rapping on the track. As time went, Hons slowly became an equal part of the group to everyone else. The fourth Funkoars album, The Quickening, is the first in which Hons has an equal number of verses as the group’s other two MCs.
Hons is also a part of the Certified Wise crew, along with the rest of the Funkoars crew as well as Terra Firma, Hilltop Hoods, Kolaps and a number of other artists from Adelaide.
