Started in 1989 by Courtney Love, Hole is one of the most rough-around-the-edges alternative bands of the Nineties. Members of the band changed with each album, with Love remaining the only one to work on every Hole record. The band’s most iconic line-up included Courtney Love (vocals, rhythm guitar), Eric Erlandson (guitars), Melissa Auf der Maur (bass, backing vocals) and Patty Schemel (drums).
After three successful albums, the group split in 2000 and Love pursued a solo career under her own name. In 2010, she regrouped Hole, remaining the only member of the original line-up – not without a good dose of controversy – and released the album Nobody’s Daughter. The fourth Hole album was accompanied by a worldwide tour, which ended in 2013.
As of now, there are no plans for Hole to reunite, although Love reconvened with members from the original line-up on a number of occasions and mentioned the possibility of working with them again in the future.
