Jordan Arts is a former member of Kids of 88 and current member of the group LEISURE. With a penchant for escapism and a wandering cinematic mind, Arts' solo project HIGH HØØPS is heavily influenced by dreamy romanticisms and idyllic Neverlands far beyond the golden frequencies.
In an interview posted to New Zealand’s What’s Good, Arts explains that his approach to LEISURE is much more relaxed than that of HØØPS. In regards to his current band, he recounts the ease with which he can whip up something on a whim, and put it out into the ether, knowing four other guys are either going to vibe with it, or flip it on its head and make something of it:
Creating for HØØPS, on the other hand, has a weight of personal responsibility, particularly with the only vague goal attached of wanting to be 80 or-so-years old, flipping through old tracks and finding they were still dope.
Arts is heavily influenced by Japanese electronic music pioneers Yukihiro Takahashi and Haruomi Hosono, He’s got a sparkle in his eye for the late 90’s dance tip, stating:
The visual essence took as much presence as the song itself to carry the understanding from artist to listener.
