Hezekiah Davis III, aka Hez and Mr. Johnny Popcorn, was born in Chester, Pennsylvania and raised in Newcastle, Delaware. He sang in his family’s church at an early age and was introduced to production by a cousin with a drum and track machine, beginning his progressive approach to hip-hop and leading to his first sold mix-tape in high school, “Exit Wound Status.” Following high school he further cultured his reputation in the Philly scene with peers such as Musiq Soulchild, Bilal, The Roots, Jazzyfatnastees, and Bahamadia.
