Hella is an American math/noise rock band formed in Sacramento, California by Spencer Seim and Zach Hill in 2001. The group consists of Seim on guitar and Hill on drums. Other musicians such as Dan Elkan and Aaron Ross have performed with the duo. However, Hill and Seim are the only remembers that have remained consistent.
Seim frequently utilizes polyrhythms and double-tapping while playing, often giving the illusion that two guitars are being played at once, while Hill’s drumming style is very hectic yet naturally flowing, with continually changing drumkit setups (during one live performance Hill even used a trash can, a mailbox, and a saw blade as makeshift drums).
Since their latest release in 2011, Tripper, the band appears to be on an indefinite hiatus.
