Helen Dunmore was born on the 12th December 1952 in Beverley, Yorkshire, and died the 5th June 2017. She was the second of four siblings. She studied at York University, before working as a teacher in Finland from 1973 – 1975. She published “The Apple Fall”, her first book of poetry, in 1983. Her collection, “, “Glad of These Times” was published in 2007.
She is part of the Royal Society of Literature and some of her pieces are now including in reading schemes within schools.
