Portland, Oregon alternative rock band (1991 – 1996), possibly best known for being co-founded by singer/songwriter Elliott Smith.
Consisting of Smith (guitar/vocals), Neil Gust (guitar/vocals), Brandt Peterson (bass – later replaced by Sam Coomes), and Tony Lash (drums), much of Heatmiser’s sound – distorted guitars, uptempo rhythms, etc. – serve as a contrast to the quieter, acoustic sound that Smith would later develop as a solo artist.
