Salvatore Guaragna (1893-1981) was born to Italian immigrants in Brooklyn, and his father changed the family name to Warren during Harry’s childhood. After displaying musical talent at a young age, Warren wrote more than 800 songs, most of them for films. He won three Oscars for Best Original Song and saw eight other songs receive nominations, and his song “Chattanooga Choo Choo” became the first record ever to be certified gold.
