H. D. (Hilda Doolittle, September 10, 1886 – September 27, 1961) was a noted American modernist poet. Associated early on with the Imagist movement, her work became steadily more informed by contemporary world events, including the violence of two world wars, and influenced by her psychoanalysis under Sigmund Freud, all while maintaining a classical poise and reserve.
