About Guitar Vader

Guitar Vader (ギターベイダー) was a popular, underground, Japanese, indie rock band formed in 1998 by Ujuan Shozo and Miki Tanabe. The group started out with the release of their compilation album Die Happy! made up of two other compilation tapes Guitar Vader Vol. 1 and Guitar Vader Vol. 2 . This release featured two of the bands most beloved songs, Magical Girl and Super Brother, popularized by their addition to the soundtrack of SEGA’s Jet Set Radio.

The group would soon dispend from their Sony label, Berry Records, and would go on to form the independent label Plugs House; putting out four releases including the last two Guitar Vader albums, Dawn and Happy East.

After complications within the two members, the band split after nearly finishing their fifth album, and had since remained distant; leaving behind the unreleased tracks, and the statement they had left within the J-Rock scene.
